Gratin aus rohen Kartoffeln
~This recipe was provided to me by my customer, Sarah Mozer. It was in German so it is a very rough translation but the end result is delicious.
Serves 3-4 people as a main course and 5-6 as a side dish


Zucchini Gratin


Preheat oven to 400 °F
Ingredients:
200 ml milk
200 ml half and half
Pepper
Nutmeg
2-3 Tablespoons of fresh finely chopped Rosemary
100 grams of gruyere cheese (I always use more than less)
4 large potatoes
2 small zucchini
2 tbsp butter


Sauce:
Mix the milk, half and half, Rosemary, nutmeg and pepper all together.


Preparation and Cooking:
Peel and grate potatoes


Grate zucchini (cover with paper towels squeeze out liquid)


2 tbsp butter heated in a skillet over medium heat


Add zucchini and sauté until zucchini is soft & bright green


Mix in potatoes and gruyere cheese


Put zucchini mixture in a buttered 1 ½ litre casserole dish


Pour sauce over potatoes/zucchini and gruyere


Cook for 45 minutes in the preheated oven


Serve with grilled or fried meat


If you like add fried onions to the zucchini mixture


Quick Tip:
To make it easy Sarah simply chops everything RAW, mixes it and then bakes it with 500 ml of table cream (instead of milk and cream) for 1- 1.5 hours in the oven.
