BC Poutine! (Grilled New Potatoes and Cheese Curds)
~ something I tried one day and fell in love with!
An easy way to make great tasting potatoes!
Ingredients:
½ lb. (225g) each red and white potatoes approximately 8
3+ Tbsp of an oil based salad dressing (I apply liberally)
1-2 70g packets of cheese curds (of course available at the shop)
Preparation and cooking:
Place potatoes in the centre of a large sheet of heavy-duty foil
Drizzle/pour on salad dressing
Wrap/seal potatoes in foil (I use a second piece of wrap to minimize spillage onto my BBQ grill).
Grill each side 9-10 minutes until potatoes are tender (I prick with a knife or a fork through the foil to test tenderness)
When done open packet and top with cheese curds.
Rewrap the foil and place back on the BBQ for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
Either serve in foil wrap or transfer to a serving platter.
Other additives:
Onion slices are great (mix with the potatoes from the beginning)
Minced garlic for some extra tanginess
Hot chili flakes for added spice
Pairings:
It’s summer so a beer, a margarita, a cold glass of white … you get the picture!
