Cheese Tea Biscuits

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 cup shredded (COLD) butter
  • 200 grams shredded 2 or 3 year old cheddar
  • 2 cups (COLD) milk

Preparation and Cooking:

  • Preheat the oven to 425ºF
  • Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt to a bowl
  • Whisk/mix dry ingredients
  • Add butter, cheese, and mix
  • Add milk and mix your ingredients into a dough
  • Roll dough on a lightly floured surface to an approximately ½ inch thickness
  • Fold one side onto the other (results in 3 layers)
  • Roll and fold again 2 more times (helps create fluffy layers)
  • Roll once more and cut into approximately 2 inch squares
  • Place on baking sheet (on parchment paper if you have it)
  • Brush with milk
  • Bake for 17-20 minutes

Serve warm with butter, preserves or cheese!

They are great cold, but nothing beats oven fresh!Enjoy!
